Founded in 1995 by Glenn Spitz, Webscan specialized in developing high-accuracy 1D, 2D, and Direct Part Marking (DPM) barcode verifiers. The company established a strong reputation in the medical, packaging and defense industries  ensuring barcodes meet strict ISO/IEC standards. 

Cognex Corporation acquired Webscan in 2017, adding verification capabilities to its well-established barcode reading product line. 

Today, Cognex verifiers are used for ISO and DPM quality compliance with applicable industry standards to provide detailed, auditable reports for packaging, pharma, and industrial applications. 

All Cognex verifiers are camera-based quality tools  that specifically identify the root causes of barcode problems so they can be addressed and corrected
